Tania Qurashi: Echo of Another
5 September – 30 November 2025
opening reception: 5 September 2025 from 6-9 PM
2C Books/Marginal Utility is proud to present Echo of Another, an exhibition of works on paper by Philadelphia-based artist Tania Qurashi.
Through painting and drawing, Tania Qurashi explores objects, vessels, and symbols as entry points into the layered intersections of identity, culture, and history. Drawing on the visual language of historical still life, Qurashi carefully composes these elements to consider how objects shape and reflect origins and belonging.
In Echo of Another, Qurashi brings together references across time and place—Mayan vessels, a Mughal dagger, and spices that bridge intertwined worlds. Each carries distinct traditions, values, and legacies, marked by the enduring impacts of colonialism and imperialism. Suspended against black grounds, these floating objects gesture toward connection and dislocation, while holding space for the potential of self-definition across diasporic distance.
